This garden and terrace are part of a guesthouse located on the grounds of an ironworks in Kyōtanba Town. The design incorporates the transience of rusting iron as a spatial element, creating a visual dialogue with the ever-growing plants. A reflective water basin, bordered by iron plates, captures fragments of the shifting mountain landscape that surrounds the site.
Water flowing from the basin drips gently into a suikinkutsu made from steel piping, producing delicate metallic tones that resonate through the quiet mountains of Kyōtanba—an ephemeral sound of iron in harmony with the stillness of the landscape.
