星野リゾートが手がける都市型ホテルブランドOMO7において、既存ホテルの改築に伴い新装されたエントランス前庭と５階外湯前の屋上庭園。「土佐の風景に浸かる」をコンセプトにトサミズキ、トサシモツケ、トサノミツバツツジといった土佐由来の植物を用い、宿泊客が土佐の美しい自然を切り取った風景に包まれて心身ともに癒される空間を計画した。５階外湯前の庭はその広さを利用し、地元のチャート石を用いた築山と、色彩豊かな薬用植物の低木群により奥行きのある四季の変化が豊かな庭を目指した。湯船に浸かり、鼻が土に近づくことで感じられる百花百草の香り。土着の植物を用い、地元職人の協力を得て土佐でしか作れない「風景のおもてなし」を提供する。
As part of the renovation of an existing hotel under Hoshino Resorts’ urban hotel brand OMO7, a new entrance garden and a rooftop garden in front of the open-air bath on the fifth floor were created. Based on the concept of “immersing in the landscape of Tosa,” the design incorporates native plants such as Tosa mizuki (Corylopsis spicata), Tosa shimotsuke(Spiraea tosaensis), and Tosa mitsuba tsutsuji (Rhododendron tashiroi), creating a space where guests are surrounded by carefully framed scenes of Tosa’s natural beauty—providing a sense of healing for both body and mind.
The fifth-floor rooftop garden, situated in front of the open-air bath, takes advantage of its generous space to create a richly layered landscape. Using local chert stones to form an artificial hill and planting a vibrant array of medicinal shrubs, the garden aims to express the seasonal transitions in depth and color. While soaking in the bath, guests experience the scent of a hundred flowers and herbs as their noses draw close to the earth. Featuring native plants and created with the support of local artisans, the garden offers a unique form of hospitality—one that can only be found in Tosa, through its landscape itself.
